Piedmont Avenue is an affluent and vivacious Oakland neighborhood named after the main commercial avenue in the neighborhood. Not to be confused with the city of Piedmont, Piedmont Avenue is inherently Oakland with its diverse blend of people, upscale specialty shops, restaurants and sense of community. The shopping area and retail section of the Avenue is at the epicenter of a neighborhood that has beautiful homes, luxury condos and apartment buildings.

There is everything you need within the neighborhood. Whether you are picking up groceries, dropping off dry cleaning, or perusing the many boutiques, everyone on Piedmont Avenue will know your name and stop you to chat about local happenings. The Avenue is truly the pulsating heart of the neighborhood and is the perfect place to go have an espresso at a sidewalk café, or enjoy a gourmet meal. At one end of Piedmont Avenue is the picturesque Mountain View Cemetery and Julia Morgan designed Chapel of the Chimes. The cemetery spans over 226 acres of hills. Many residents enjoy this area for peaceful moments, jogging, and overlooking the view of the Bay.

Piedmont Avenue is bordered by Broadway to the west, the City of Piedmont to the east, Interstate 580 to the south and Mountain View Cemetery to the north.

Piedmont Avenue is conveniently located near 580, making it accessible to drivers to commute quickly to San Francisco, and the North and South Bays. It is definitely a neighborhood that a car is not needed, however. Residents can easily walk or ride their bike to nearby popular neighborhoods in Oakland, including Uptown or Grand Lake. Public transportation is also readily available to residents. There are AC Transit bus lines within the neighborhood and an express bus that takes passengers directly to the Transbay Terminal in Downtown San Francisco. There are also nearby BART stations within walking distance.
